ArcelorMittal Dunkirk Project Information

The “3D” project (for DMX Demonstration in Dunkirk) has three main objectives:

Demonstrate the effectiveness of the DMXTM process at the industrial pilot-scale.

Prepare the installation of a first-of-a-kind industrial unit on the ArcelorMittal site in Dunkirk, which could be operational from 2025.

Design a future European CCUS hub in Dunkirk, which could capture, transport and store 10 million tonnes of CO2 per year from 2035.

Ervia CCUS Project Information

Ervia is investigating the potential for large-scale CCS in Ireland to capture the CO2 from a number of gas-fired CCGT power plants and heavy industrial emitters. The project is at an advanced feasibility study stage, examining the potential for CO2, captured from industries and power plants in Ireland to be transported for safe permanent storage (export, e.g. Norway, or indigenous storage). The depleted Kinsale Head Gas Field off the South West Coast of Irelands shows potential as a future CO2 store and the related infrastructure shows potential for reuse. Initial findings suggest that CCS may be technically and economically viable for Ireland and, over the next few years, Ervia will continue detailed feasibility studies into the technology. The project has been granted PCI status.

TCM Project Information

Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) offers the world´s most advanced and flexible large scale test arena for CO2 capture technologies. TCM aims to help reduce the cost and risks of CO2 capture technology deployment by providing an arena where vendors can test, verify and demonstrate proprietary CO2 capture technologies. TCM aims to be the preferred verification partner for CO2 capture technologies internationally.

Porthos Project Information

Porthos is developing a project in which CO2 from industry in the Port of Rotterdam is transported and stored in empty gas fields beneath the North Sea.

LEILAC1&2 Project Information

Supported by the European Union, the LEILAC (Low Emissions Intensity Lime And Cement) projects are developing a breakthrough technology that aims to enable the cement and lime industries to capture their unavoidable CO2 emissions emitted from the raw limestone.

Fortum Oslo Varme CO2 Capture Project Information

This project was Launched in Oslo, August 2015 , initiated by the Norwegian Government, the CCS project at the Fortum Oslo Varme’s waste-to-energy plant is currently in the final planning phase.

EVEREST Project Information

The Everest project (Enhancing Value by Emissions Re-use & Emissions Storage) will utilise carbon monoxide and hydrogen by-products from steel production for conversion into chemicals and capture waste CO2 for permanent storage in depleted North Sea gas fields.

Carbfix Project Information

Carbix started out as an academic project back in 2006 and was formalized by four founding partners in 2007, Reykjavík Energy, the University of Iceland, CNRS in Toulouse and the Earth Institute at Columbia University. Several universities and research institutes have participated in EU funded projects, Carbfix, Carbfix2, GECO and S4CE.

ACORN CCS Project Information

The Acorn Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project is a full-chain project with initial industrial carbon capture of existing emissions at St Fergus gas terminal for transport via existing, now redundant, gas pipelines and permanent sequestration below the UK North Sea.
