Project lead: Ervia
Project website

Ervia is investigating the potential for a large-scale CCS project in Ireland to capture the CO2 from a number of gas-fired CCGT power plants in order to provide low-carbon electricity.

Initial findings suggest that CCS may be technically and economically viable for Ireland and, over the next few years, Ervia will continue detailed feasibility studies into the technology.

Our feasibility study into CCGT/CCS and Industrial CCS (for oil refinery) – largely through proposed re-use of on and offshore gas pipelines for CO2 transport with storage at the depleted Kinsale Gas field – will have direct relevance to the CCUS Projects Network. Our local community engagement, funding opportunities investigation, business case development and collaboration activities, including Projects of Common Interest (PCI) participation, will all also be relevant.
